Beautiful
It was so simple... Sunday morning, we were getting dressed for church. Kajal came up to me and held out her hand, she was holding a teeny weeny elastic band. Mommy, she said, and she pointed to the top of her head. I looked at her hair, beautiful... thick and glossy but still, just a few inches short. Do you want me to put your hair in a pony tail? I asked. No pony, she said, just hair in that... pointing to the elastic band. I couldn't quite figure out what she wanted, gazing at this adorable child all dressed up in her Sunday best. I pulled what hairs I could manage to scrape together on the top of her head into a pony tail that stood straight up in the center of her head... all two inches of it. I bit my lip from laughing and asked... is this what you want? Kajal turned to gaze at herself in the mirror and broke into the HUGEST smile! Oh, mommy, that's beautiful! Then one, wasn't enough... do TWO mommy!

Her voice was breathless as she gazed upon herself...she saw beauty in that perky little hair, she saw beauty in herself. Her eyes glistened with joy and she skipped off through the apartment, happy as can be.
It was such a simple, perfect moment....
Later that day, having a snack at the New England Aquarium

a simple, perfect moment captured perfectly! I can't help but wish that her birthmother could "see" her precious little girl now. She must have known someplace in her heart that God had you in mind for Kajal and how happy she would be. Maybe she saw the flashing lights too!
