Pune... India

It's been very difficult to upload and connect to the internet or I would have written sooner... Wed we went to the orphanage and met Kajal for the first time. She was so excited and had been waiting all day for us... she couldn't have been happier and changed into a new dress that I brought for her right away. She was so incredibly happy! She held my hand within minutes and I don't think we were there more than twenty minutes when she climbed up onto my lap and let me hold her. The children clearly were happy for her.. but so lost looking themselves. The orphanage was hard to take, very sad, very harsh the reality of life here for these children, in India. We'll have to find a way to help improve their quality of life even in what small ways we can. Kajal is adorable... she has the most radiant smile. The children all loved Grandma, most of all Kajal who took to her new Grandmother right away. Mom was sad though, we only had a few packages of crackers on us and she tried to split them up for the children but there just wasn't that much to go around. We wished we'd brought more. We did bring sweets made locally and finally the director brought them out and let the children all eat them so they were happy.  We were able to bring Kajal back to the hotel and go to court today. She is hungry all the time and loves a little calculator of mine... she knows her English alphabet! She loves to sing and play, where pink and many bracelets. She is a bit worse for the wear, and needs a lot of love and physical healing... I have to run, she's hungry again... will write more when I can. We're going to court today... wish us luck!

Here we are... our first meal together.
